Telecom cost reduction and bill audits for businesses
Telecom invoices are long, change every month, and are rarely read past the total. Lines for former employees, circuits for closed offices and expired promotional rates keep billing quietly. We read every line, compare it with what the market charges today, and negotiate the difference with your carriers.
What a telecom audit reviews
The review covers every recurring communications charge your business pays, across every carrier and location.
- Wireless plans, device payments and unused or duplicate lines
- Internet circuits, fiber and broadband at each location
- Landlines, fax lines and alarm lines that may no longer be needed
- VoIP and hosted phone systems, including per-seat licensing
- Taxes, surcharges and fees billed in error
How the engagement works
You send recent invoices and a short questionnaire about how your team uses its phones and connections. Analysts compare your rates and services against current pricing for organizations of your size, then present a written report of the changes they recommend before anything is touched.
You decide which recommendations to accept. In most cases we keep your current carriers and renegotiate with them, so nobody has to change phone numbers or learn a new system.
How the fee works
The work is contingency-based: if the review finds no savings, you owe nothing. When it does, the fee is a share of the savings actually achieved, so it is paid from money you were not keeping before. Billing is monitored after the changes so the new rates stay in place.
Savings engagements are contracted with MECA LLC under the Schooley Mitchell brand. West Tennessee Consulting operates this site and introduces the engagement; it is a separate company.
Frequently asked questions
- Will we have to switch phone or internet providers?
- Usually not. Most savings come from renegotiating with current providers and removing services you no longer use. A change is only recommended when it clearly benefits you, and only with your approval.
- How much time does it take from our staff?
- Gathering invoices and answering the questionnaire is the main task. Analysts handle the review and the carrier negotiations.
- Can you review our other expenses too?
- Yes. Merchant services, waste, software and several other categories can be reviewed in the same engagement.
